I love to incorporate Jewish items as Art in home decor. After all, I want my home not just to be aesthetically beautiful, but to reflect as much as possible who we – the people that live here – truly are. Thankfully, now a days it’s become easier and easier to find beautifully curated and designed Jewish items. I have a round up on all my current favorites coming up actually! In the mean time, I wanted to share with you my excitement about my friend Kenden’s Jewish Calendar Art.

Las que me conocen mejor saben que me encanta incorporar elementos judíos como arte en la decoración de mi hogar. No sólo quiero que el hogar se vea bonito, pero que a la vez refleje lo mas posible la esencia de los que aquí convivimos. Afortunadamente hoy en día ya es mucho mas fácil encontrar objetos con tema judío con un buen diseño. De hecho, tengo una compilación de mis favoritos actualmente en el mercado la cual estoy por presentarles en estos días. Mientras tanto, les quería mostrar mi emoción acerca el calendario judío de mi amiga Kenden, el cual se puede incorporar como arte. 

Kenden, from Jewish Food Hero, and I have an interesting story. We “met” through the blogsphere and we realized that we both grew up in Puerto Rico and are the same age, yet we’d never met! Talk about having a feeling that we are meant to connect somehow, right? Anyways, when Kenden sent me pictures of her new project and asked me what I thought, I was beyond excited. “Go for it mama, this is beautiful!” kind of excited. ;-) Kenden has put together a lovely Jewish Calendar for 5777 that is meant to serve as Art, because well, it is art. It’s not a full calendar, but rather a pretty listing of all the Jewish festive dates for 5777, displayed in a delicate and elegant way.

Kenden es blogger en Jewish Food Hero. Nos “conocimos” a traves de los blogs y de ahí nos dimos cuenta que ambas crecimos en Puerto Rico y somos de la misma edad, y ¡nunca nos habíamos conocido! ¡Insólito! Es como que estámos destinadas a conocernos. Bueno, el caso es que cuando Kenden me envió fotos de su nuevo proyecto y me preguntó que opinaba, me morí de la emoción. “¡Dale, mi vida, que está buenísimo!” fue lo que le contesté. ;-) Kenden creo este lindo calendario judío para el 5777 el cual sirve como arte. No es un calendario completo, sino mas bien un bello listado de todas las fiestas judías del año que estamos por comenzar, ilustradas de forma fina y delicada. 

I would love to put this in my office ASAP, but I have a ton of ideas for this little treasure…I can see it as a great hostess gift; something to donate to your shul, JCC, Day School, Hebrew School, a teachers’ gift, or a PTO gift to all the teachers. Actually, I’m even thinking that it might make a meaningful gift for some of the beautiful Bat Mitzvah girls that I teach. We learn thoroughly about the Jewish Calendar and its meaning. (You can read some more about that in this post.) Yes, I think this Jewish Calendar Art is so beautiful and delicate… Definitely calling my name. You can order yours here.

Me encantaría ponerlo en mi oficina ASAP, pero ademas tengo muchísimas ideas de como se puede usar y exhibir este lindo tesorito… Haría un lindo regalo para cualquier anfitriona; o algo lindo para regalarle al shul, JCC, colegio judío…También me parece que haría un lindo regalo para las maestras. Es mas, me parece que sería un regalo significativo para algunas de las lindas niñas que preparo para su Bat Mitzvá. Juntas aprendemos en profundidad acerca del calendario judío, su importancia y significado. (Parte de esto se los comenté en este post.) Está tan lindo y delicado… definitivamente me encanta.
