B”H
Good Morning Everyone! It was time to show some appreciation to my lovely and amazingly supportive readers, so today I bring you a Giveaway in honor of the upcoming holiday of Shavuot! Keep on reading because theres a lot of eye candy in this post, plus, Something Borrowed will be giving away a beautiful flower arrangement to one lucky JewishLatinPrincess reader.
If you remember from my post here, I used Something Borrowed for my son’s Upshernish. Something Borrowed will match you with flowers that have been used at another event. The flowers you will get are no more than two days old. You just tell Something Borrowed your ideas for colors, budget, and so on, and they’ll match you up with the perfect flowers. I think it’s such a wonderful concept- a Jewish one indeed- why should all those beautiful flower arrangements go to waste, when someone else can use them!?
Last week, the lovely Heather, founder of Something Borrowed came over with hydrangeas (one of my favorites) paired up with blush and lavender roses (who would have thought!?). They had been used for very large centerpieces at a wedding. I love flowers in my home, so I couldn’t have been more thrilled. So perfect to get in the spirit of Shavuot!
We have many customs revolving around Shavuot (May 23-25 this year)- ok I know we still didn’t get to Lag B’Omer but who wants to talk about bonfires when we can talk about flowers! ;-) Kidding, we can talk plenty about Lag B’Omer too! But, back to the pretties… One of the customs of Shavuot is flowers, flowers, flowers.
We decorate our synagogues with flowers on Shavuot reminding us of Har Sinai (Mount Sinai). The Midrash tells us that Har Sinai, a humble, small mountain, was covered in beautiful flowers in honor of the monumental occasion- one which changed all of mankind (sorry, for being presumptuous, here). But, yeah, the giving of the Ten Commandments and the entire Torah on that mountain was a pretty awesome event in history.
Why limit ourselves to just the synagogue!? I say on Shavuot, we should fill our homes with flowers as well! And of course our Shavuot table! So, when Heather showed up with these lovely flowers I had to make some magic happen.
What do you think? I’m ready to have my cheesecake there? Aren’t you?
Since Something Borrowed is a local company, today’s contest is limited to Houston readers only (sorry!). We have given you plenty of chances for multiple entries. Contest closes May 19 at midnight. Raffle winner will be announced May 20. Can’t wait to see who wins! Good luck to everyone!
a Rafflecopter giveawayIn addition, in case you have an event coming up and need flowers, Something Borrowed will offer a 10% discount when you place your order any time between May 24 and June 8 2015. Use the code JewishLatinPrincess.
