Wednesday Wink

A dear friend of mine asked me to stand up in her wedding next month, and requested that I wear a yellow dress. I had no idea what a task I would have trying to locate a yellow dress suitable for the occasion, especially on a tight budget! I searched everywhere online, but to no avail. One evening as I was searching websites, I came across a Dainty Jewells “Night in Paris” dress at a secondhand store. It was gorgeous, tziniut, and at a discounted price I could afford.

I thanked G-D for allowing me to find a dress, and waited excitedly for it to come in the mail. However, once I received it, the color was so pale—more of a butter color instead of the rich sunflower yellow my bride-to-be friend had in mind! I tried it on and just couldn’t bring myself to admit that this was the dress I would have to wear to the wedding. I couldn’t return it, and I couldn’t afford another dress, so I decided I would try dyeing it a darker yellow. I asked my grandmother if she would help, but once she looked at the dress she felt like I should just wear it without dyeing it, as it would risk ruining the only dress I had.

I felt so much tension over this dress, and I was running out of time to come up with a solution! I knew G-D had provided this dress, but it just didn’t feel completely right. The only thing I could do was to pray about it again, and ask HaShem to help. With all the problems going on in the world, asking about a dress seemed so trivial, but it was bothering my heart—and if my heart was troubled, I knew that He cared about it too. After praying, I left my grandmother’s house feeling shalom in my soul, and didn’t give the dress another thought.

That was Wednesday. On Friday morning, I received an email from Yael saying that I had won the Dainty Jewells giveaway from her blog! I was speechless at how HaShem provided so extravagantly in answer to my prayer! I was able to pick out a dress in the exact color I needed, from the exact company I wanted, without breaking my budget. My heart overflowed with gratitude at experiencing G-D’s love for me and His concern for my situation. He truly loves to take care of His children, just like any earthly father does!

My encouragement to you is that whatever is causing stress or tension in your life, take it to HaShem. Ask for His help. Truly, we cannot know the mind of G-D or how He will provide—but expect Him to show up in ways that leave you speechless!

Speechless, indeed! I do not know Victoria personally. In fact, up until now I had no connection with her on social media or elsewhere. In addition, in order for me to select a winner of a contest, I just press a button on the platform that I use to run the contests, and the platform randomly selects a winner from the list of people who have completed the entries properly. I have no say in the matter and nothing to do with the algorithm that they use. It is completely “random.” Well apparently, just as “random” as everything else in our lives… ;-)

I am so grateful to have been a small piece of the puzzle – an agent of G-d to facilitate His work in the world and provide for one of His children’s needs.
