Guys I must live under a rock because just yesterday I found out about the webseries Soon By You. I haven’t watched TV in ages, probably since the good old days of Seinfeld and Friends, so finding Soon By You, a clean, and refreshingly funny series about Orthodox Jews dating in New York, was a super happy accident. It is super funny! Stay tuned for both episodes below. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Debo de estar viviendo debajo de una roca, por que solo ayer me enteré de esta serie por Internet, Soon By You (“Mejorado para ti”) ¿¡No esta genial el hombre!? ¿Cuantas veces no le hemos dicho a nuestras amigas, sobrinas, nietas etc.? Yo la verdad no he visto television en años, probablemente desde los buenos años de la TV, ya saben, los años de Seinfeld y Friends. Así cuando me tropecé con esta serie – una limpia y refrescantemente cómica sobre el ambiente de estar soltero en NY entre judíos ortodoxos – supe que se las tenía que compartir.  ¡Esta super cómica! Acá les presento los dos episodios. ¡Espero que se la disfruten tanto como you!

 

There are so many things I liked about this series, from the clever name, the acting, the script and the awesome fact that it was produced by a religious Jewish woman, Leah Gottfried. I think many of you, like me, lived in New York during your single years and can relate to the characters in the series and what they are going through. I love that it was done with a lot of sensitivity and just portrays the reality of the “dating scene” in a funny and well… just real way.  I am so looking forward to episode 3. Please tell me they are working on one…

Hay muchas cosas que me encantaron, desde el nombre, la actuación, el libreto y el que fue producida por una chica judía religiosa. Creo que muchas, al igual que yo, vivieron en Nueva York cuando estábamos solteras y nos podemos identificar con personajes de la serie y lo que están viviendo. Me encanta que la serie fue hecha con mucha sensibilidad y no se esta burlando de nadie, sino presentando la realidad de todo este ambiente de una manera cómica y pues, real. Estoy esperando con ansias el episodio número 3…

    My daughter Stav had her Bat Mitzvah a few months ago.  I wanted Stav to go into her 'Bat Mitzvah' understanding the meaning of the term, and with the knowledge of how to apply it to her life. Even though she learns in a Jewish Orthodox school, I felt that she needed extra learning and inspiration for her coming of age.  Luckily, I knew Yael from before, and heard that she teaches Bat Mitzvah classes.  I had a feeling that this would be a good match... I wasn't wrong :)

    Yael teaches ancient ideas in a modern way.  Stav came back from classes inspired, thinking and asking herself questions.  I'm thankful that my daughter had the opportunity to learn with Yael for her Bat Mitzvah in a interesting, welcoming and inspiring way.
