The wise King Solomon said “There’s nothing new under the sun,” a phrase I was very familiar with growing up thanks to my dear mother. A fashionista in her own right, she would often quote King Solomon when referring to fashion. And although we are in the Three Week mourning period, known as Bein HaMetzarim, I had to posts these end of summer pieces because they just reminded me so much of clothes I had growing up. Now, don’t go shopping now because it’s not time for shopping (as per the halachot of the Three Weeks – here), but really by the time the Three Weeks are over Moshiach will have arrived, or these items will have gone on sale so nothing to worry about.
I showed this mood board to my mother and she said “Oh you’re right, you had something like this and like this, and oh you had the same one!” So here it goes, a glimpse into my teenage closet – and hopefully in a few weeks we can change that into a “glimpse into my closet” or better yet some of us will be sporting these classic beauties on our trek up to the Beit Hamikdash!

All three poplin tops (1,2,3,5) are so classic and I totally had similar ones growing up. I’m loving the lace detail.
Isn’t this the perfect Yom Kippur dress? (It’s customary to wear white.)
Pair it with a jean jacket and this cotton dress is perfection.
Don’t these all seem so timeless and reminisce of child hood in the Caribbean. I think these looks probably had a lot to do with having family from Spain, no? There was a certain aesthetic…. Anyone with me?
Have a great week!
Yael
