Last Minute Purim Costume Shopping

My friend just called and told me that she’s out costume shopping! Yikes! The truth is the best time to buy Purim costumes is when the Halloween ones go on clearance ;-) Marshall’s usually carries beautiful costumes and they go on clearance the first week of November. That’s usually when I buy them. But, it happens… you’re busy, you’re not even sure what you’re doing for Purim… Purim is the last thing on your radar, and all of a sudden your kids want to do something for Purim; or they just reminded you that they need/want to dress up for a school/shul Party!

Some are crafty moms who will create something in a blink, but the rest of us… we call our neighbor/friend and do a costume swap; or we go on Amazon Prime. If you’re stuck for some last minute ideas, here are some nice ones that I found on Amazon Prime that might work. If you order tonight, you will get them right on time for Purim!

I was shocked to see that Ikea has a collection of kids’ costumes in stock right now, perfect for Purim!

My daughter Stav had her Bat Mitzvah a few months ago. I wanted Stav to go into her 'Bat Mitzvah' understanding the meaning of the term, and with the knowledge of how to apply it to her life. Even though she learns in a Jewish Orthodox school, I felt that she needed extra learning and inspiration for her coming of age. Luckily, I knew Yael from before, and heard that she teaches Bat Mitzvah classes. I had a feeling that this would be a good match... I wasn't wrong :)

She came up with the color scheme, all the accessories, the overall “look” of the day, and I just happily and gratefully followed along. But I don’t want you to think it’s only what Yael wants, Yael does. She asked me for input every step of the way. She always checked in with me about what she was buying, what she thought we should have at the party, and she was always conscious of budget. I wanted everything she suggested, but I know that if there had been anything I wasn’t keen to have, she would have changed it until she found something that I loved.
