When Dainty Jewell’s asked me to choose some outfits that would fit my lifestyle as a «mamapreneur,» I jumped at the opportunity! Today, I want to show you some of my favorites from their collection and give you the chance to win any one of Dainty Jewell’s lovely pieces! (By the way I learned that term – «mamapreneur» – from my first guest on Jewish Latin Princess Podcast, the lovely Bari Tessler.)
If you have kids and you work for yourself, you probably know that getting work done during the summer can be particularly challenging. There’s almost four weeks that I cut down in meetings, writing, designing, interviewing and so on, because my kids are home and so it’s my time with them. But, once camp starts I try to get back into action and full productivity gear… To keep up with the pace of doing my work, managing my home and being a mama, there are two things that are imperative for me: discipline with my time (which I talked about here), and wearing comfortable, professional clothes that can take me through the various activities I do in a day, seamlessly. Enter Dainty Jewell’s in my life! Thanks to Dainty Jewell’s for sponsoring this post and for allowing me to show you how I wear some of their most comfortable pieces as I go through life as a #mamapreneur #stylist #blogger #podcaster…
In terms of my time, my days are planned to the T. Not only is everything in my calendar as I told you here, but as I’m working in the computer, I always have my notebook and jot down things that came up that I will need to manage later, new ideas etc. My phone, computer and notepad are part of «the team». Oh and I have a lovely assistant, Ilana, who helps me keep my head straight and my husband, Matt, who helps a TON. (Hello, podcast editor!)
I’ve actually paired down my closet significantly in the last two years and only keep things there that I really love, are comfortable and I can wear in multiple settings: from home to a meeting, to carpool and to an evening event. This green skirt is so amazing! You know that bright colors are my thing. Pair it with a striped top like mine here, with a chambray skirt, a white top, a print top… One of those closet staples that are just easy, beautiful and you can wear it multiple ways and to multiple settings. You can see how great it flows here.
I try not to work when my kids get home from camp, but sometimes after a break we kind of sit together and while they do their thing, I can squeeze in a few more emails. My daughters keep journals where they write, color, and believe it or not, design their own fashion brand! (They are so funny!)
I told you in this post that this little guy is fairy easy, but every kid needs attention and book reading is a favorite activity around here. So yes, ideally once they are home, I put the computer aside and focus on what’s important! (I try, I really try!)
I think I might have told you before that I don’t enjoy spending too much time in the kitchen, so I try to get everything done early in the morning and I have household help who also helps me execute. Let’s just say I’m a good kitchen administrator.
For the most part, I plan ahead of time and delegate. And when I do have to be in there, which is inevitable, I try to be fast and effective. This light chambray cotton dress from Dainty Jewell’s is one of my favorite things. So comfortable, feminine and super light. I can be in it all day, from the morning in the kitchen, at home, in meetings or just playing with the kids in the back yard after they come home.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that prayer is a part of my daily routine. I spoke about it here. I also often stop and take a break from the computer and the phone to say Tehillim (Psalms). This is my favorite Tehillim book. My husband visited artist Baruch Nachshon, who’s paintings illustrate each chapter of this book of Tehillim, recently in Israel and brought it back as a gift from Nachshon to our family. Very special.
I’m so happy that I chose the same skirt I told you about before, in black as well, because I can wear it both to work, hang around with my kids (and their friends who drop by) and even for Shabbat dinner or any evening outing. Again, so super comfortable and practical! And it comes in so many great colors – 5!!! (Hint, the month of Tishrei is approaching and you will need skirts for the Holidays!!!)
