B”H

Good morning everyone! So much is going on around here and you will hear about it in the next few weeks, but let me just tell you a small snippet of my every day life. It’s been ages since I bought dish ware for our dairy side of the kitchen, but it looks like the time has come for an entire refresh of my dairy side.

¡Buenos dias, amigas!

Somehow, we’ve lost quite a number of plates in the last year, and we’re down to three plates! Did I tell you we’re a family of 6!? And yes, we use the dairy side of the kitchen a lot! Not to mention, that Bubbie (my mother in law) comes every Sunday for brunch, so it has become quite apparent that we need to do something about the shortage.

It might seem crazy to some, but I hardly use disposables (remember this post?). It might be convenient, but I feel like it’s such a waste, especially because I have no excuse, since I have a dairy dishwasher that can do all those dishes for me. Btw, I recently read something interesting by my friend Dena from Chai & Home, on the use of disposables, that some of you might appreciate. In any case, I digress… I was telling you about my dishes…

Mugs have also broken and we seem to have been left with a handful of random mugs that we don’t even love- you know the kind you get at a convention, and then in somebody’s mishloat manot, etc. Nothing too exciting. So, the eating situation here has become somewhat comical, kind of like that old children’s Passover book, Nine Chairs (highly recommended, btw, it’s really funny!)

I’m ready to pass on what little I have left on the dairy side of my kitchen, and do an entire dairy dishware refresh!

I was using color up until now, but I think this time I want to go for a basic white set. However, I’m falling in love with the use of cobalt blue in china and it seems so apropos to go with blue and white for the dairy side, no? Plus, I can’t just go plain white. I need some color. Just adding a touch of cobalt here and there would be so good. So here’s some inspiration.

The blue random swirls and paint drops are really speaking to me. This all reminded me that my friend Albertina did such a cute painted dishes DIY last year. I bet my girls would love to try to do something like what she did.

And had you seen these Ikea placemats? So good and so easy to clean! I’m telling you…. loving the white and cobalt trend!

Do you keep separate dishes for meat and dairy? What do you have for an everyday set? Do you even bother using china for dairy or do you use disposables exclusively?

¿Usas platos separados para carne y leche? ¿Qué usas para diario? ¿Vajilla o simplemente desechables?

I loved being part of your podcast, I had no idea what to expect and it was refreshing as a Jewish woman to participate in your podcast. Your questions related to what I do, combined with Judaism gave me a lot to think about. I love getting new questions instead of the typical “why did you start the project?” which is important but I’m glad you gave it a twist. I hope your listeners enjoy the interview as much as I enjoyed being part of it! Thanks for challenging me to think about my topic and religion as one.
