Welcome and Thank You || Bienvenidas y Gracias

B”H

Welcome to Jewish Latin Princess! I can’t begin writing this blog without saying Thank You. First, thank you to H” for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me. Thank you to my loving husband and children who are a constant source of inspiration and support. You really are all my biggest heroes and you make me proud every day. I hope I do the same. Thank you to all my teachers along the way. Finally, thank you to my friends and students who have encouraged me, directly and indirectly to finally put this project into fruition.

¡Bienvenidas a Jewish Latin Princess! The Talmud says in the name of Rabbi Chanina: “I have learned much from my teachers. I learned more from my friends than from my teachers. But from my students I learned more than from all the others.” (Taanit 7a.) And this is exactly how I feel.

(Taanit 7a.) Es así exactamente como me siento.

The idea of this blog came to me after having spent close to a year teaching a monthly ladies’ class in Spanish, to Jewish Latin ladies in Houston, TX. It’s been over a year and our learning has been enriched by all of your contributions. I have gained enormously from our times together and I hope you have done the same. I hope we continue enriching our lives together with the teachings of our holy Torah, for many more long and healthy years to come.

Houston Mikvah Tour Jewish Latin PrincessI can’t thank enough Rabbi Dovid and Elisa Goldstein, who pushed me to begin teaching these classes and trusted me with such an endeavor. I thank you for allowing me to be a teacher and for your constant guidance and support.

Finally, last night I sat at Rabbi Joseph Telushkin’s lecture about his book The Rebbe (find it here), and as he spoke he reminded me of one of my Rebbe’s central message to all of us Jews: “Something worth doing is worth doing now.” So after much hesitation in hitting the publish button because “the blog is not yet perfect“, here we go… Because “Something worth doing, is worth doing now.” And since it happens to be my Hebrew birthday today, it is definitely an auspicious occasion for me to hit publish and start blogging.

I hope you enjoy the ride here at Jewish Latin Princess where I’ll attempt to present to you a creative and modern look at Judaism from a feminine perspective and to inspire us all to use our G-d given talents as Jewish women to fuse the spiritual and physical in everything we undertake. Please come back for more. It will be fun!

Jewish-Latin-Princess

I loved being part of your podcast, I had no idea what to expect and it was refreshing as a Jewish woman to participate in your podcast. Your questions related to what I do, combined with Judaism gave me a lot to think about. I love getting new questions instead of the typical “why did you start the project?” which is important but I’m glad you gave it a twist. I hope your listeners enjoy the interview as much as I enjoyed being part of it! Thanks for challenging me to think about my topic and religion as one.
