¡Feliz Tu B’Shvat Amigas! Parece ser que anoche mi hijo mayor estaba organizando su mochila – algo que usualmente hace los domingos y/o los lunes – por que esta mañana encontré en el piso de mi cocina algunos restos de la limpieza y una mochila prolija, ordenada y colgada en su lugar. Entre los rastros con los cuales me “tropecé” fue esta notita que dice “Al igual que un árbol, siempre estoy creciendo” y en el otro lado el mencionaba dos maneras en que el puede mejorar y/o crecer (desde su perspectiva). Aún no tuve tiempo de preguntarle de que se trataba esto, pero me supongo que el viernes hizo algún ejercicio sobre reflexionar en las ideas de Tu B’Shvat con su maestra.
Happy Tu B’Shvat, my friends! Last night my oldest son must have been organizing his back pack – something he usually does on Sundays or Mondays – because this morning I found some remnants of his organizing on the floor of my kitchen. And, I found a lighter and neatly organized backpack hanging on it’s assigned hook. :-) Among the remnants that I “tripped” over was this little note that reads: “Like a tree I am always growing.” On the other side of the paper, he had written two things that seemed to be areas in which he could improve/grow/ be better (from his perspective). I haven’t had the chance to ask him what this was about, but I’m assuming that on Friday he must have done some type of work in class in which they reflected on some of the messages of Tu B’Shvat.
Me pareció muy bello que recibí el recordatorio de que sí, en efecto, todas/os estamos siempre creciendo como un árbol y tenemos mucho crecimiento que hacer. Hace dos semanas me propuse tener una nueva página para este blog y a pesar de que me esmeré mucho en lograr lanzarla dentro de mis capacidades y mi presupuesto, tuve muchos obstáculos – algunos que noté me estaban frustrando. Por el otro lado, mientras mis esfuerzos tecnológicos no estaban dando frutos con la velocidad que yo hubiera anticipado, muchas otras cosas hermosas estaban pasando con relación al blog.
I loved receiving this reminder early Monday morning that yes, in fact, we are all always growing like a tree and we have much growth to do. Two weeks ago, I set out to build a new blog page with all sorts of new things. Despite having spent a lot of time and effort on the new site, I ran into numerous obstacles. I was feeling frustrated. However, while my technological efforts were not bearing the fruits at the speed that I wanted, many other things were flourishing.
Al mismo tiempo que estaba frustrada con la tecnología y mis los ideales de que quería lograr con el aspecto visual del blog, muchas otras cosas estaban floreciendo. Durante esas dos semanas de trabajo arduo, aparentemente sin fruto, conocí y me conecté con mujeres increíblemente creativas… mujeres que estaban confiando en mi para darles un espacio de participación en este pequeño espacio digital; mujeres con las que he creado una relación de trabajo muy cercana y prometedora; mujeres con quien he entablado una amistad así sea al otro lado del mundo; mujeres con quien comparto mucho en común a la vez que comparto muchas diferencias y eso hace de la relación tan interesante y especial; mujeres con las cuales perdí contacto hace muchos anos y ahora estoy en una nube de felicidad de que hemos vuelto a conectarnos y re-entablar nuestra amistad gracias a este blog.
Although I was feeling frustrated with technology and delayed in accomplishing what I set out to do, so many other blog related things were flourishing. During these two weeks I got to know and connect with many women as a result of this blog… Women who are trusting me to give them a voice in this small digital space; women with whom I’ve been able to create close working relationships that are very promising; women with whom I’ve been able to establish a beautiful friendship even though they are in another part of the world; women with whom I share so many commonalities, yet so many other differences – all of which has made our relationship rich and special; women with whom I lost contact many years ago and now I am beyond thrilled to have reconnected in a very special way…
Me doy cuenta de que aveces nos quedamos tan enfocadas en el detalle que perdemos perspectiva de la gran película o como dicen en ingles dejamos de ver el bosque a causa de los árboles. Y en efecto, el bosque se ve tan y tan maravilloso y tengo que tener mas presente poder verlo así, y disfrutar de la vista.
Often, we get so hung up on the details that we truly loose sight of the bigger picture or how they would say in the States, “we can’t see the forest from the trees.” But, in reality, right now this forest looks beautiful and wonderful and I need to be more mindful to see it for what it is, and enjoy the view.
La semana pasada, mi esposo me escucho frustrada por que aún no había logrado finalizar los cambios al blog que me había agendado en el calendario y me recordó algo muy cierto: “Yael, una semilla pasa por un proceso de destrucción para germinar. Sólo por que te sientas derrotada no quiere decir que no vas a germinar. En efecto, es en la derrota, los obstáculos, los atrasos y todo lo demás, donde esta el crecimiento. Deja que suceda. Todo esta germinando…”
Last week my husband heard me complain because I had not finalized all the changes and upgrades that I set out to do on the blog, and had meticulously scheduled on my planner. He immediately reminded me of something so true: “Yael, a seed goes through a process of disintegration in order to germinate. Just because you feel destroyed or defeated, does not mean that you are not going to germinate. In fact, it’s in the defeat, the obstacles, and the delays, where the potential for growth lies. Let it happen. It is all germinating…”
