You’re listening to Jewish Latin Princess, I’m Yael Trusch your host. Today I have the author of a new book for teen girls, Dear Libby, Will You Answer My Questions about Friendship?, Libby Kiszner. Frankly, the book is not just for girls, I’ve read it myself (as has my daughter) and I really enjoyed it. Libby has written other books and she’s also a Writing Coach with a unique approach to creativity and the craft of writing. Much to learn here on how to really create from a place of calm – admittedly, I seem to have a lot of work to do in this area. But, this is something that Libby practices herself and teaches her clients to do.
Where did the idea of this book come from? Why a universal message, rather than a more overt Jewish book, this time around? We dive into her coaching and we explore her mindset when it came to choosing a career in writing. In particular, how money was never part of the though process and where did that mentality come from? Libby experienced her father going bankrupt when she was a teen and then building tremendous wealth. We unpack all that. What’s next for Libby Kiszner? Is she “drinking her own medicine”?
And speaking about medicine, I apologize for my congested voice throughout this interview. If you follow me on Instagram Stories you may know that I’ve been sick for a while with a sinus situation that really knocked me down, but at some point I had to get back to work and I’ve done a lot of interviews while drinking tea. Hopefully by the time this airs, I will be completely healthy. Here we go ladies, here’s Libby Kiszner.
You can find the book here.
