B”H Here’s a roundup of Hanukkah themed items from the home decor stores that have caught my eye this year. This menorah from CB2 is stunning and what do you know? It’s Kosher! Crate and Barrel has a cute serving plate. I actually like the regular blue and white plates that they’ve styled with the Hannukah plates a lot. Remember that I even posted about them a while back on
Hanukkah Gifts for Kids
B”H You know from this post that I’m not very into giving gifts for Hanukkah. I give Gelt instead. However, my kids are used to their grandparents and their grandparents’ friends who do love gift giving for Hanukkah. So, yes, my kids usually receive a small toy or tchotchke some or all of the eight nights of Hannukah (aside from the chocolate gelt and real Gelt that my husband and I provide).
My Thanksgiving
B”H Funny, no? Last week you learned all about whether it’s kosher for Jews to celebrate Thanksgiving. So, are you planning your menu? Don’t look at me for help… (insert blank stare emoji) Which leads me to the question some of you asked, do I celebrate Thanksgiving? While my debate might not be as nuanced as the one among halachic authorities, I do have my own meshugaz, when it comes to
Fall Modest Fashion
B”H There’s a few things I love when it comes to creating the perfect modest fashionable look: silk – always, forever and ever my love prints mix and match – because why not!? Like you didn’t know that ;-) I HEART all these pieces, and I especially love them together… The moody prints had me at hello and hey, you can mix and match! I love Tucker NYC’s Classic
Is Thanksgiving Kosher?
B”H Is Thanksgiving Kosher? Kosher, meaning “fit,” is Thanksgiving a Holiday celebration fit for a Jew? I don’t mean the meal itself, as certainly that can be made kosher, but I mean the entire celebration, which yes, revolves around the meal. (Celebration revolving around a meal? Sounds pretty Jewish to me, ha!) Is Thanksgiving, a holiday with non-Jewish origins, by default “un-Jewish”? The question of whether Jews should participate in Thanksgiving
Judaica by Kate Spade New York
B”H Have you seen the new Judaica from Kate Spade NY!? It is so pretty – as everything Kate Spade. I’m loving the pops of color, of course. UPDATE before I move to the pretty: Sadly, I just found out that the above shown menorah is not kosher. Actually, I had a suspicion. I initially checked and someone told me it was, so I moved forward with the post. But,
Shabbaton in Guatemala
B”H Shavua Tov, friends! I’m preparing for my next Shabbaton in February in St. Louis, Missouri and I realized I hadn’t posted about my Shabbaton in Guatemala this past Elul. It was such an amazing experience, it’s really hard to capture in words. I get so much strength from connecting with Jewish women from different backgrounds and places. I know I’m the one leading and aiming to inspire and teach women, but the
Modest Fall Fashion
B”H One of the best things about Fall is the availability of modest fashion! It is the season to invest in clothing, if you’re looking for more modest pieces. Not too heavy, fall fashion can take you through the year – definitely well into the Spring. And this year, I’m loving the moody prints in particular the moody florals. But, of course I had to add some leopard to the mix of
Pomegranate Salmon
B”H Pomegranate Salmon is my go to fish recipe for Rosh Hashanah. Everybody LOVES it… Not only is it delicious, but the presentation is phenomenal. My dear mother in law gets me the Joy of Kosher magazine as a gift every so often, and this recipe was published in the Fall 2012 issue. I’ve made it every Rosh Hashanah since! Every year I say, I have to share it with
Best Honey Cake Ever
B”H If you’ve been around here a while you know sweet foods and I… not good friends. So, honey cake is definitely not my thing. But what is one to do when Rosh Hashanah rolls around!? Enter my friend and fellow blogger, Amy from What Jew Wanna Eat, who introduced me to her Drunken Honey-Pomegranate Cake. This is hands down THE best honey cake ever… Pomegranate! Yes… brilliant! Make it and
