B”H Chodesh Tov, everyone! You know I wished it was Rosh Hashanah, so I could talk about this dress, but hey it’s only Shvat, which means it’s almost Tu B’Shvat, so let’s run with that! After all, who needs to wait till Rosh Hashanah to wear this cute Pomegranate Dress!? Pomegranates are one of the seven species of the Land of Israel, right? You heard about it here first: The Pomegranate
B”H Are you an over protective mother? Do you allow your kids to do age appropriate things independently, despite the risks that might be involved? What is age appropriate? As a society we do not know any more. Do you let the fear of some terrible thing happening – what my guest calls “Worse First Thinking” – overcome you? Welcome to Jewish Latin Princess. I’m Yael Trusch, your host. I
B”H Would you be able to be on call at all hours of the day to save a life? All while you raise a family and have a career as a family therapist. You’re listening to Jewish Latin Princess. I’m your Host Yael Trusch. Welcome to the show. My guest today has been called Hatzala’s Wonder Woman. Miriam Ballin is on the show. Miriam, an American, now living in Israel
B”H Music is a big deal in our home, not because of me, but because of my husband. I have a few kids who have inherited his love of music and talent. My guest today has nurtured her musical talent from a very early age. I have composer, singer and performer Franciska on the show. Franciska grew up in Moscow of all places, in an observant Jewish family. And as
B”H The Zara Home Sale… what can I say… Ad Infinitum! There is so much to choose from and all so pretty. Not nearly as affordable as their clothing sale, yes, but I have to say, when it comes to linens Zara has excellent quality. Here are some of my picks from the Zara Home Sale. I also want to highlight these as some of my favorites on the table
B”H The Zara Sale – The moment you’ve all been waiting for! Well, not really. At least I hope not! (Don’t know about you, but I’m waiting for Moshiach.) In the mean time, in case you want to get something special for the momentous occasion, indeed the Zara winter sale is on! Ok fine, I’ll stop already. But there are some really good tzniut picks, as well as a huge
B”H Imagine you were the only one who had recorded on video a monumental event that changed the course of your country’s history? By “accident”. My guest today is Alexandra Zapruder, the granddaughter of Avraham Zapruder, the Russian Jewish immigrant living in Dallas, who recorded the Zapruder film – raw unedited footage of President John F. Kennedy’s assasination. Divine Providence? I think so. What does Alexandra think? How did Mr.
B”H As we wrapped up the Hanukkah Holiday, I was thinking of Jewish education – not our children’s but ours. As I’ve mentioned before Hanukkah (Chanukah) is connected to the word chinuch, education in Hebrew. I often hear women sigh in dismay at the level of Jewish education they’ve managed to provide their kids via a Sunday School/Hebrew School program, AND then sigh at their own level of education. They wished
B”H Are you a hot mess when it comes to motherhood? Be honest. It can be totally overwhelming and yes, even those of us who thought we had it all under control before we had children, well let’s just say, things change! How do we become a better version of ourselves, how can we be more present and not totally overwhelmed and as they say in yiddish – suflaygen?
B”H This was the topic of my talk custom made for the ladies in Aventura Florida. But, really I think it was custom made for me! (I’ll tell you why in a minute) I was sent there as the first speaker of an initiative spearheaded among four Chabad houses in the area, called Project Connect. Project Connect will span over four months. This month’s event was hosted by Chabad of
B”H Have you ever wondered if there is a spiritual dynamic going on that you’re not aware of? How could the Torah’s mitzvot actually help you as a person? Are they really that important? Is your life and life around you all that you perceive with your senses? How can I really achieve more than I think possible? Well, if you’ve been listening to Jewish Latin Princess Podcast for a
B”H Hanukkah brings out the crazy in our people… Let me tell you how I explained it for my column on The Jewish Herald Voice’s December 15, 2016 edition. Rosh Hashanah: food; Sukkot: food; Tu B’Shevat: food; Purim: food; Passover: food. Wait, what happened to Chanukah!? Sorry to disappoint you, but while eating latkes and donuts is a nice custom, there’s no mitzvah to eat on Chanukah. The mitzvah of
B”H It’s December already, wow! I’m in Miami this week re-connecting with old friends… friends who I haven’t seen in years and physically connecting with many of my newer virtual friends, who I’ve made through this platform the blog and the podcast, Jewish Latin Princess. I’m down there for a speaking engagement so I will also get to meet new women. Always so fun. Mothers, if you listen with your
B”H Welcome to another episode of Wednesday Wink ladies! What is cooler than a friend who sees Hashgacha Pratit (Divine Providence) in her life all the time? A friend who takes the message and does something amazing with it – using her talents to serve G-d in this world! Today’s Wednesday Wink is from my friend, now published author, Rivka Fishman. I vividly remember her sharing this incident with me
B”H Have you ever been on the receiving end of a “non-apology”? One of those apologies that left you wondering, “what was that!?” How do you deal with the unapologetic offender? I recently had to apologize to my really
B”H Hanukkah Menorahs seem to be one of those Judaica items that we can’t have enough of. They are so pretty to display and it’s so beautiful to have one for each member of your family. And they make great gifts! In case you’re still in the market for a Hanukkah Menorah (or a few) here’s a roundup of some of my favorites kosher Hanukkah Menorahs in the market. And
B”H Today I have a special episode with Financial Planner and Money Coach, Debbie Sassen, which we’ve called Demystifying Investing. Debbie is the creator of the 6 month online course, Smart Women Build Wealth and I’ve brought her on today because I wanted her to demystify the world of investing for my audience and to tell you about her course, Smart Women Build Wealth. I know that investing seems like
B”H Here’s a roundup of Hanukkah themed items from the home decor stores that have caught my eye this year. This menorah from CB2 is stunning and what do you know? It’s Kosher! Crate and Barrel has a cute serving plate. I actually like the regular blue and white plates that they’ve styled with the Hannukah plates a lot. Remember that I even posted about them a while back on
B”H You know from this post that I’m not very into giving gifts for Hanukkah. I give Gelt instead. However, my kids are used to their grandparents and their grandparents’ friends who do love gift giving for Hanukkah. So, yes, my kids usually receive a small toy or tchotchke some or all of the eight nights of Hannukah (aside from the chocolate gelt and real Gelt that my husband and I provide).
B”H Today I welcome my youngest guest yet, Leigh Hershkovich. When you hear her speak you will not believe that she’s only in her early twenties… the confidence, maturity and clarity … G-sh I wasn’t like that at 24 and I was considered to be quite mature. Leigh just published a novel, Shattered Illusions and is hard at work on her second novel. She is also the creative director of
